Ｏn Saturday morning, I am going to do my homework. Then, I ’m going to visit my grandparents with my mother .In the evening, I’m going shopping with my friend.We ’re going after dinner. Then we are going to buy some comic books. On Sunday, I’m going to Yi Chang with my mom and dad. We are going to Dongshan Park and K.F.C. for lunch. We’re going to buy a new computer for my grandparents in the afternoon. Then we’re going to go home and watch TV together. That will be fun.

Assuming that you have all obtained employment and are fairly started, my advice to you is “aim high”. I would not give a fig for the young man who does not already see himself the partner or the head of an important firm. Do not rest content for a moment in your thoughts as head clerk, or foreman, or general manager in any concern, no matter how extensive. Say to yourself, “My place is at the top.” Be king in your dreams.
And here is the prime condition of success, the great secret: concentrate your energy, thought, and capital exclusively upon the business in which you are engaged. Having begun in one line, resolve to fight it out on that line, to lead in it, adopt every improvement, have the best machinery, and know the most about it.
The concerns which fail are those which have scattered their capital, which means that they have scattered their brains also. They have investments in this, or that, or the other, here there, and everywhere. “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” is all wrong. I tell you to “put all your eggs in one basket, and then watch that basket.” Look round you and take notice, men who do that not often fail. It is easy to watch and carry the one basket. It is trying to carry too many baskets that breaks most eggs in this country. He who carries three baskets must put one on his head, which is apt to tumble and trip him up. Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as “Harvest Festival”, which is one of the most well known Chinese Festival none other than the “moon festival”

Sonora Dodd, of Washington, first had the idea of a "father's day." She thought of the idea for Father's Day while listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909.
Sonora wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. Smart, who was a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state.
After Sonora became an adult she realized the selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora's father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father's Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.
President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972.

Bidding for the Olympic Games, in a way, an image-creating undertaking. The first and foremost thing is to let people fall in love with the city at first sight, attracting them by its unipue image. What image does Beijing
intend to create for itself once it has the opportunity to host the 2008 Olympics?
It is known to all that the Beijing Municipal Government has already set the theme for the future games: New Beijing, Great Olympics. For me, the 2008 Olympics will be a great green Olympics illuminated with two more special colors, yellow and red.
First, yellow is a meaningful color. The Yellow River is China's Mother River and the descendants of the Yellow Emperor. This color has a special origin and great significance for the Chinese people. Beijing is the capital of New China and previously the capital for nine dynasties in Chinese history. So, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 2008 Games.
Secondly, the 2008 Olympics will be a red pageant.Red is another traditionally cherished color for the whole country. We adore red. On big occasions, we like to decorate our homes in red. It is the color of double happiness, representing joyous moments, auspiciousness, enthusiasm and prosperity. Red is one of the most suitable colors to describe the future of Beijing . Beijing , together with the whole country, is becoming more and more prosperous in the process of modernization. Should the 2008 Olympics be held in Beijing, the whole city will be a sea of red : the red torch,red flags, red flowers, and the radiant faces of millions of joyful people.
Above all, the 2008 Olympics will be a green Olympics. Adding a green ingredient is essential in creating an appealing image, as we can't deny the fact that Beijing, at the moment, is not as green a city as what we like it to be. Striving for an environmentally appealing city has become a central task for all the citizens of Beijing. Big efforts have been made in pollution control, replanting and beautification of the city. According to a project entitled" The Green Olympic Action Plan", between 1998 and 2007, Beijing, we have invested 100 billion RMB in preserving and protecting the environment. Some 12.5 million trees and over 1 million acres of grass will be planted along the Fourth Ring Road. By then, the city's green area will make up 40% of its total. The city will also dredge its reservoirs used as a water supply to Beijing residents, controlling industrial pollution and moving out the 200 factories presently located within the city proper.
Certainly, all of this is no easy task. But I am sure that all of us have confidence that we will realize these green goals. For now we have the full support and participation of the environmentally conscious citizens. Each
citizen is showing great concern for every one of the steps the city government takes. As the saying goes, United, we stand, and agreen Beijing will be achieved.

If one manages to stand an egg on it's end at exactly 12:00 noon, the following year will be a lucky one.

As a loyal minister, Chu Yuan at first enjoyed the full confidence and respect of his sovereign. Eventually, through the intrigues of his rivals, he was discredited.
Chu Yuan was never able to regain the emperor's favor and on the fifth day of the fifth moon in the year 295 B.C.(Before Christ), at the age of 37, Chu Yuan clasped a stone to his chest and plunged into the Milo River in the Hunan Province.
Respecting the minister as an upright and honest man, the people who lived in the area jumped into their boats and rushed out in a vain search for him. This unsuccessful rescue attempt is a part of what the Dragon Boat Festival commemorates every year.
Probably the most exciting and interesting aspect of the festival is the racing of the Dragon Boats. These races not only symbolize the people's attempt to save Chu Yuan, they also demonstrate the Chinese virtues of cooperation and teamwork.
Another activity of the Festival is the making and eating of a kind of dumpling called Tzungtzu . Take off the hard shell
One day, a lobster met a hermit crab in the deep sea.
To the hermit crab’s puzzlement, he found the lobster taking off his hard shell and showing his tender and lovely body.
“Hey! Lobster,” said the crab, “Why are you removing your protective shell? You could be eaten by a big fish, or knocked against a rock by the current and killed. Don’t be silly, or you will have to pay a heavy price for your behavior.”
“Thank you for your concern! But don’t you know that we have to remove our shells in order to grow?” “If we are too scared to remove our shells, then we can’t move forward in life as nature intended,” answered the lobster, and with these words, he carried on with his task.
The hermit crab thought for a while and then said, “What a clever lobster! Here I am wasting my day looking for places to hide from the sun, when I should be thing about how to grow bigger and stronger. ”

Love and Time
Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

毕业了没得学可上了才开始爱上学习，可是当为了考试再次拿起课本还是发现学习效率不高，不喜欢去记那些死知识什么作家属于哪个年代派别啦有什么影响啦某个文学运动的定义啦，我不知道记这些有什么用，就象语法只是为能更好的阅读服务一样，这些背景知识只是为了使读者更好的理解作者的思想，但是中国的英语教育倾向于反客为主，这几天一直在复习课本，当学生们开玩笑似的问我书本上能考到多少东西时我只能说为了单选和改错，英语本来不需要教科书，老师的任务只是激发学生们对英语的兴趣，让他们主动的去阅读英语文章，见得多了，不用背诵自然也会有语感，相反的，我们现在强调的只是考试，大考小考最后一锤定音的高考…这样英语变成了一种为了得分不得不学的东西他们怎么会喜欢会去主动学？十五六岁的人有九门课一天学习至少十个小时！学生对我说老师头都要炸了！我无话可说，我想要他们放下课本去接触更宽广有趣的英语世界，可是我这点理论根本不成系统，自己实施可是很好的控制自己的方向，可不敢保证他们有足够的自制，也许，我的这种想法首先要改造的不是英语的学习方法而是学生们的学习观念，可以更自主一点，有足够的自学能力。都报怨中国孩子学英语时间不短但效果不好大多是哑巴英语，中国的教育制度往这儿一放就注定了中国的学校里出不了太多好的英语人才，学成的大部分还是要靠自己的努力与正确方法。虽然课本开始了改革但是我们眼前的路依然漫长而艰辛

2. Slow down!

高考听力分两节，测试学生理解口头英语的能力。第一节5小题为简短对话；第二节共15小题，包括5段对话或独自。第一节放一遍，第二节放两遍，需时约20 分钟，内容主要包括日常生活文化教育、风土人情、传说、时事、科普等都是考生日常生活中能接触到的，要求考生(1)领略要义，目的是考查考生听录音理解大致内容的能力，其题干常为Wh－开头的特殊问句(2)获取详细的事实信息，即解释和说明主题的一些细节(3)对话或独白背景或谈话者的意图、观点和态度。常采用以下考查形式：What is the probable result of the conversation? What can we know from the man?
根据以上听力题型，我在日常听力训练中，一方面坚持常听不懈，充分利用精选的听力磁带，课上课下合理搭配，使其充分发挥作用；另一方面教会学生掌握听力技巧。在技巧方面，我从以下几方面人手。l、注意对话的环境和交流的信息。在理解对话时充分了解其语境，听对话时根据对话所交流的信息推断出对话者之间

总之，提高听力水平要立足平时训练，针对薄弱环节进行强化训练。Practice makes perfect(熟能生巧)。多听、勤练、广泛实践、增强语感，听力考试中一定能取得好成绩。
二、说的能力的培养
近年来，“哑巴英语”现象相当普遍，这严重制约了与外界的交流，制约了我的改革开放，但限于条件，一直没把口语考查纳入高考之内。只是报考外语院校的考生才进行口试。英语口试主要是考核口语交际能力和语言基本功，要求学生不仅有正确的语音、语调，而且有一定的流利程度。针对这些我在日常教学中主要做了以下几方面的工作：
1、通过听录音，加强语音、语调训练，在平时课堂上对有录音的材料多让学生跟读。平时在课下训练时精选一两盘声音地道的原声磁带，每天花十几分钟反复地听，边听边试着跟读。
2、加强朗读。在平时教学中，尽量创造条件让学生读。如在讲话时，编选一些相似的对话；在讲课文时就课文内容进行分角色复述等。
3、创设英语环境。就象我学母语一样，把语言学习置于环境中，不知不觉中学会了很多，同样，学英语也不例外。在课堂上，老师尽量为学生创造良好的英语环境，比如，利用课前free talk叙述身边发生的事或讲述小故事。平时坚持说英语，培养学生用英语思维的能力。
三、阅读能力的提高
阅读是高考英语的重头戏，是关系高考英语成败的重要一环。近几年高考阅读理解题呈现出以下几个特点：1、篇幅增加，难度加大2、设问巧妙，要求提高3、选材多样，设计新颖4、突出语篇，注重能力。阅读理解的考查内容，大致可分为以下5种，即细节题、推理题、猜测词、句义题、归纳主题中心题、深层理解题。
根据以上这些，结合学生实际，我采取了以下措施来提高阅读能力：
一是词汇量，大纲上的词汇一定要认识。另外为了扩大词汇量，我每天让学生在黑
板上抄写几个生词，并每周进行一次考查，这样日积月累扩充了有关语言知识的八级目标(高中毕业要求)要求学生会使用3000个单词和400—500个习惯用语或固定搭配，成为我教学的努力目标。
二在阅读教学中我注意以下几点：1、培养良好的阅读习惯、训练阅读技巧。培养
默读的习惯，以提高语速，达到高考规定的要求；培养阅读预测能力，抓住文章主题句、
关键词，从整体上理解文章；根据不同阅读要求采用不同的阅读方法。2、在课文教学中，我采用 “任务式”教学，把课文阅读教学分为三大步骤，即任务前、任务中和任务后。任务前，用形式多样、灵活有趣的方法引入新课，激发其阅读兴趣；任务中学生带着几个浅层理解问题阅读，来解决问题，然后再带更深层问题精读；任务后，据课文内容作复述、改写或相似类型阅读理解题。
三是推荐高质量的阅读材料，扩大阅读量，增加背景知识的输入。我精选一些难易适中的，体裁多样、内容新颖、集趣味性、知识性、实用性于一体的篇目，让学生们去欣赏，由易而难，进而试着阅读英文原著。学生还可上网阅读英文报刊，如《中国日报》(China Daily)、《人民日报》英文版、《纽约时报》等。
四、写作能力的培养
高考书面表达题是学生得分普遍较低的题目。高考书面表达是严格按“评分标准”和“评分细则” 评分的。阅卷老师一方面看要点是否齐全，另一方面看语言表达是否准确，连贯流畅。学生因要点不全失分的少，主要是表达失误导致的失分，主要有以下几方面：一是词汇贫乏、用词不当或语言单调。二是套用母语来表达。三是篇章结构混乱不清，段落混乱，语无伦次，不知所云。
针对上述写作现状和高考要求，我从以下四个方面有的放矢地引导学生表达：
l、重视学生的语言知识积累。
要使学生有足够量的语言知识积累，首先要保证语言信息输入量，同时要注意信息输入的科学性，还要有适当的巩固措施。在平时教学中，教师特别重视以课文为载体，让学生复述课文，改写、缩写课文或把对话改写成短文，或者背诵全篇或部分课文，通过这些训练，学生有了一定量的语言知识积累后，当他要表达自己的思想时，就能呼之欲出，信手拈来。
2、架设知识与能力的桥梁。
知识的积累在于应用。有了一定量的知识积累后，要将知识转化为能力，必须通过实践。我在平时经常训练学生做一句多译和句型转换练习，这样可以训练学生多向思维灵活运用语言的能力，通过这些训练，巩固了句型结构，丰富了词汇。除此之外，我还有意识地训练学生分析和翻译长句子、复杂句。高考是选拨性考试，教师应鼓励学生充分展现自己的能力，不要胆小。
3、培养良好的思维习惯和写作程序。
良好的思维习惯包括用英语直接思维的习惯和思维逻辑性两方面，英语思维的培养要贯穿于英语教学全过程，一方面靠大量的信息输入，另一方面要通过大量练习。：皤养写作程序时，要求学生依要点，草拟提纲，简单列出所需词、词组、句型，然后连词成句、 ‘连句成文，再根据前后逻辑关系，运用适合关联词组成一篇逻辑严密，前后照应的文章，最后通读全文，检查修改，使之趋于完美。
4、训练解题技巧。
英语书面表达要注意：①要点要全，不能丢三落四、内容不全②表达要准确，减少语言错误，句子表达要灵活③语言表达要精确，切忌偏离主题，文章内容主次分明，条理性强④要注意句式新颖，适当多用复杂旬⑤字迹工整、书写规范，给人以美感。总之，书面表达要从自身出发，量力而行，扬长避短，力求写出自己的最佳水平。

3、创设英语环境。就象我学母语一样，把语言学习置于环境中，不知不觉中学会了很多，同样，学英语也不例外。在课堂上，老师尽量为学生创造良好的英语环境，比如，利用课前free talk叙述身边发生的事或讲述小故事。平时坚持说英语，培养学生用英语思维的能力。
三、阅读能力的提高
阅读是高考英语的重头戏，是关系高考英语成败的重要一环。近几年高考阅读理解题呈现出以下几个特点：1、篇幅增加，难度加大2、设问巧妙，要求提高3、选材多样，设计新颖4、突出语篇，注重能力。阅读理解的考查内容，大致可分为以下5种，即细节题、推理题、猜测词、句义题、归纳主题中心题、深层理解题。
根据以上这些，结合学生实际，我采取了以下措施来提高阅读能力：
一是词汇量，大纲上的词汇一定要认识。另外为了扩大词汇量，我每天让学生在黑
板上抄写几个生词，并每周进行一次考查，这样日积月累扩充了有关语言知识的八级目标(高中毕业要求)要求学生会使用3000个单词和400—500个习惯用语或固定搭配，成为我教学的努力目标。
二在阅读教学中我注意以下几点：1、培养良好的阅读习惯、训练阅读技巧。培养
默读的习惯，以提高语速，达到高考规定的要求；培养阅读预测能力，抓住文章主题句、
关键词，从整体上理解文章；根据不同阅读要求采用不同的阅读方法。2、在课文教学中，我采用 “任务式”教学，把课文阅读教学分为三大步骤，即任务前、任务中和任务后。任务前，用形式多样、灵活有趣的方法引入新课，激发其阅读兴趣；任务中学生带着几个浅层理解问题阅读，来解决问题，然后再带更深层问题精读；任务后，据课文内容作复述、改写或相似类型阅读理解题。
三是推荐高质量的阅读材料，扩大阅读量，增加背景知识的输入。我精选一些难易适中的，体裁多样、内容新颖、集趣味性、知识性、实用性于一体的篇目，让学生们去欣赏，由易而难，进而试着阅读英文原著。学生还可上网阅读英文报刊，如《中国日报》(China Daily)、《人民日报》英文版、《纽约时报》等。
四、写作能力的培养
高考书面表达题是学生得分普遍较低的题目。高考书面表达是严格按“评分标准”和“评分细则” 评分的。阅卷老师一方面看要点是否齐全，另一方面看语言表达是否准确，连贯流畅。学生因要点不全失分的少，主要是表达失误导致的失分，主要有以下几方面：一是词汇贫乏、用词不当或语言单调。二是套用母语来表达。三是篇章结构混乱不清，段落混乱，语无伦次，不知所云。
针对上述写作现状和高考要求，我从以下四个方面有的放矢地引导学生表达：
l、重视学生的语言知识积累。
要使学生有足够量的语言知识积累，首先要保证语言信息输入量，同时要注意信息输入的科学性，还要有适当的巩固措施。在平时教学中，教师特别重视以课文为载体，让学生复述课文，改写、缩写课文或把对话改写成短文，或者背诵全篇或部分课文，通过这些训练，学生有了一定量的语言知识积累后，当他要表达自己的思想时，就能呼之欲出，信手拈来。
2、架设知识与能力的桥梁。
知识的积累在于应用。有了一定量的知识积累后，要将知识转化为能力，必须通过实践。我在平时经常训练学生做一句多译和句型转换练习，这样可以训练学生多向思维灵活运用语言的能力，通过这些训练，巩固了句型结构，丰富了词汇。除此之外，我还有意识地训练学生分析和翻译长句子、复杂句。高考是选拨性考试，教师应鼓励学生充分展现自己的能力，不要胆小。
3、培养良好的思维习惯和写作程序。
良好的思维习惯包括用英语直接思维的习惯和思维逻辑性两方面，英语思维的培养要贯穿于英语教学全过程，一方面靠大量的信息输入，另一方面要通过大量练习。：皤养写作程序时，要求学生依要点，草拟提纲，简单列出所需词、词组、句型，然后连词成句、 ‘连句成文，再根据前后逻辑关系，运用适合关联词组成一篇逻辑严密，前后照应的文章，最后通读全文，检查修改，使之趋于完美。
4、训练解题技巧。
英语书面表达要注意：①要点要全，不能丢三落四、内容不全②表达要准确，减少语言错误，句子表达要灵活③语言表达要精确，切忌偏离主题，文章内容主次分明，条理性强④要注意句式新颖，适当多用复杂旬⑤字迹工整、书写规范，给人以美感。总之，书面表达要从自身出发，量力而行，扬长避短，力求写出自己的最佳水平。
享受英语学习的快乐

在人满为患，硝烟弥漫的地球，我们垂青金钱，向往自高无上的爱情，热衷于被人追捧，崇尚傲慢冷酷的玩世不恭，不怕道德的谴责，不怕流氓的谓称。
只要我们抵达，于是我们心安理得，昂首挺胸并不惜视昨天的辛劳如烟云，一月月一年年醉生梦死，日日笙歌。
青春，沸腾的热血，几乎每个人都在积极奔走，企求上苍许以雨霖，我却像无主的孤魂浪迹于偌大的虚无，没有希望，没有理想。
我背离了世俗的主流，迷恋于流云的逍遥，飞鸟的自由，荒唐地梦想着看见大海，到渴慕以久的远方探索不为人知的奥秘。
然而，所有的一切都在我梦醒后随飘零的落叶四散而去，我尚未出门，却已无可奈何地厌倦旅行多少个夕阳西下的黄昏，我站在难得幽静的校园独自徘徊，多少痛楚和忧伤充溢我的内心，我并不因为自己茕茕孑立，形单影只而郁郁寡欢，怨天尤人。
然而，多少事深藏我的心囊，多少愤怒和耻辱像虫子一样嘶咬着我的肝脾：卑贱的出生，阴冷的现实，不可逆转的命运，永无止境的疲乏，我幻想死亡，渴望着自己走进天堂，聆听来自神灵和非理性的召唤，然而不能，理性像鞭子对待奴仆一样围裹着我的自由，嘲笑着我的泪水。
命运的大神有意作弄我弱小的灵魂，罚我在冰天雪地里苦苦寻觅，寻觅那若有若无的归宿，“海阔山遥，未知何处是潇湘。”
在一个个寂寞的白天和无数个不眠之夜，孤单像虫子一样汹涌着心灵的万顷碧波，绞尽了肝肠，把音乐一听再听，把萧笛一吹再吹，却总也逃脱不了空虚无助的惆怅。
我尽管年轻，灵魂却已丧失殆尽，我是上帝不小心遗落人间的杂物，命中注定我只能扼守清贫，浮沉于世俗的海洋无所作为。
夜风呼啸着掠过窗棂，一如这个季节一样肃杀和肆无忌惮，这是辛辣的嘲讽，还是善意的鞭笞？

手指的方向
时间已经带走了许多，包括熟悉、人情冷暖。不知道时间除了层层叠叠的痛、断断续续的裂痕，又带给我了冷漠，还是改变？人是不是总在经历很多之后变得圆滑？在拥有很多后，便忘了自己单纯的梦想与执着？ 当一身锐气被世俗磨平，当满心欢喜被一点点掏空，当眼眶中的泪熟悉了流下的路径,我想：是不是所有的爱恨情愁都会随着时间沉淀下来?它们会随着血液在身体里流动，变成缕缕气息与每次呼吸同进同出，变成身体不可分割的一部分，渗透在每个动作，每句言语中，如影随形…也许这就是成长。于是，告诉自己要学会懂得，懂得给自己一点时间好好去思考，懂得如何在百转千回中及时抽身，懂得好好爱护自己。
不知道你有没有试过在深夜十二点，躺在空无一人的房间，看着黑暗一点点将身边的一切吞没，最后有连自己也被吞噬的感觉。心满满的，一块块撕开，全是想哭的温柔……在那个世界完全静下来的时刻，睁开眼，寂寞会像浮云一般掠过双眼，将世界与你隔开。闭上眼，屏住呼吸，静寂中会听到自己身体里血液在流动，那一刻的平静不需要任何修饰。然后，在尘埃停止飞舞的时刻，问问自己，你想要的究竟是什么？

伊不爱人间的女子，他深深爱着的是宙斯神殿里一位倒水的侍女。这个平凡的侍女曾经在一个夜晚用曼妙的歌声捕获了伊的心，也夺走了特洛伊城里所有女孩的幸福。
天界的那个女孩叫海伦，和特洛伊城里最美丽的女子海伦拥有同样美丽的名字。宙斯非常喜爱海伦，尽管她只是一个侍女。可是有一天，海伦无意中听到太阳神阿波罗和智慧女神雅典娜关于毁灭特洛伊城的决定，海伦不顾戒律赶去给王子伊报信。结果在半途中被发现，宙斯的侍卫们将海伦带回了神殿。宙斯不忍处死她，但决定好好惩罚她。在他的儿子阿波罗的提示下，宙斯决定将这份罪转嫁给与海伦私通的特洛伊王子身上。
这天，宙斯变做一只老鹰，降临在特洛伊城的上空。他一眼就看见在后花园中散步的王子。宙斯惊呆了，他见过许多美丽的女神和绝色的凡间女子，却从来没见过如此俊美的少年。宙斯被伊特别的气质深深吸引，一个罪恶的念头油然而生。他从天空俯冲下来，一把抓起伊，将他带回了神殿。

Relish the Moment
Tucked away in our subconsciousness is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that spans the continent. We are travelling by train. Out the windows, we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waving on a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corn and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of mountains and rolling hillsides, of city skylines and village halls.
But the uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at a certain hour, we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flags waving. Once we reach there, so many wonderful dreams will come true and the pieces of our lives will be fit together like a completed jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes loitering, waiting, waiting, waiting for the station.
"When we reach the station, that will be it", we cry. "When I'm 18", "When I buy a new 450SL Mercedes Benz", "When I put my last kid through collage", "When I have paid off the mortgage", "When I get a promotion", "When I reach the age of the retirement, I shall live happily ever after."
Sooner or later, we must realize that there is no station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.
"Relish the moment" is a good motto, especially when coupled withe the Psalm 118:24:"This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it." It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets over yesterday and the fear of tommorrow. Reget and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today.
So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more icecreams, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more and cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. Then the station will come soon enough.

The Zen of Cat
The Man was very sad. He knew that the Cat’s days were numbered.The doctor had said there wasn’t anything more that could be done,that he should take the Cat home and make him as comfortable as possible.
The man stroked the Cat on his lap and sighed.The Cat opened his eyes, purred and looked up at the Man. A tear rolled down the Man’s cheek and landed on the Cat’s forehead.The Cat gave him a slightly annoyed look.
“Why do you cry, Man？”the Cat asded.“Because you can’t bear the thought of losing me？ Because you think you can never replace me？”The Man nodded “yes.”
“And where do you think I’ll be when I leave you？”the Cat asked. The Man shrugged helplessly. “Close your eyes, Man,” the Cat said. The Man gave him a questioning look, but did as he was told.
“What color are my eyes and fur？” the Cat asked. “Your eyes are gold and your fur is a rich, warm brown,” the Man replied.
“And where is it that you most often see me？”asked the Cat. “I see you…on the kitchen windowsill watching the birds…on my favorite chair…on my desk lying on the papers I need…on the pillow next to my head at night.” “Then, whenever you wish to see me, all you must do is close your eyes,” said the Cat.
“Pick up that piece of string from the floor——there, my ‘toy.’” The Man opened his eyes, then reached over and picked up the string. It was about two feet long and the Cat had been able to entertain himself for hours with it. “Now take each end of the string in one hand,” the Cat ordered. The Man did so.
“The end in your left hand is my birth and the end in your right hand is my death. Now bring the two ends together,” the Cat said. The Man complied.
“You have made a continuous circle,” said the cat.“Does any point along the string appear to be different, worse or better than any other part of the string？” The Man inspected the string and then shook his head “no.”
“Close your eyes again,” the Cat said.“Now lick your hand.” The Man widened his eyes in surprise.
“Just do it,” the Cat said.“Lick your hand,think of me in all my familiar places, think about all the pieces of string.”
The Man felt foolish, licking his hand, but he did as he was told. He discovered what a cat must know, that licking a paw is very calming and allows one to think more clearly. He continued licking and the corners of his mouth turned upward into the first smile he had shown in days. He waited for the Cat to tell him to stop,and when he didn’t, he opened his eyes. The Cat’s eyes were closed.The Man stroked the warm, brown fur, but the Cat was gone.
The Man shut his eyes hard as the tears poured down his face. He saw the Cat on the windowsill, then in his bed, then lying across his important papers. He saw him on the pillow next to his head, saw his bright gold eyes and darkest brown on his nose and ears. He opened his eyes and through his tears looked over at the circle of string he still held clutched in his hand.
One day, not long after, there was a new Cat on his lap. She was a lovely calico and white…very different from his earlier beloved Cat and very much the same.

The Cat’s eyes were closed.The Man stroked the warm, brown fur, but the Cat was gone.
The Man shut his eyes hard as the tears poured down his face. He saw the Cat on the windowsill, then in his bed, then lying across his important papers. He saw him on the pillow next to his head, saw his bright gold eyes and darkest brown on his nose and ears. He opened his eyes and through his tears looked over at the circle of string he still held clutched in his hand.
One day, not long after, there was a new Cat on his lap. She was a lovely calico and white…very different from his earlier beloved Cat and very much the same.

The gift of Love
If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end. When I was a child, I thought like a child; when I became and adult, I put an end to childish ways. For now we see in mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
